Transcription: Tropical rainforests cover much of Indonesia. A combination of high humidity, strong sunlight, and a fertile volcanic soil ensures that they support an incredible diversity of animal and plant life. The rainforests contain many plant and animal species. There are more than 5,000 kinds of orchid alone. As much of the area is unexplored, it probably contains many species yet to be discovered. At present, extensive logging is being carried out in the forests. This is destroying the natural habitat of thousands of unique species, which could be lost forever.
